Origin and nature of the Nestlé Nutrition Fund (NNF): twelve years promoting nutrition


Organization and operation

The Nestlé Nutrition Fund (NNF) is an arm of FUNSALUD. Its organization, financial support, and operational structure have allowed it to achieve outstanding results in its activities. The NNF is formed by a Technical Committee and a Scientific Division.


The Technical Committee’s

The NNF is constituted by a Technical Committee and a Coordinating instance. The Committee combines three types of experience: corporate, philanthropic, and academic. It includes the following personalities:

The Technical Committee’s functions are:

1. Define the NNF’s general policy.

2. Establish its priorities and lines of action.

3. Evaluate the organization’s budget and monitor its spending.

4. Manage the organization’s financial resources.

5. Generate political and institutional support, both public and private, for implementation of the programs.


Scientific Division

The NNF’s scientific division and implementation of its programs are supervised by Dr. Pedro Arroyo Acevedo. The division’s main functions are:

1. Designing and implementing short-and medium-term programs in each line of action.

2. Monitoring programs and estimating their impact.

3. Raising additional funding and generating political and institutional support for program development.

4. Fomenting communication, exchange, and constructive criticism among researchers.

5. Convening researchers to propose projects related to common themes and organize coordinated funding efforts.
