International
Clinic Nutrition Symposium
Objective
Promoting
the Program for the Strengthening
of Nutrition Instruction at Medicine
Faculties and Schools in Mexico.
Summary
To
promote the Program for the Strengthening
of Nutrition Instruction at Medicine
Faculties and Schools in Mexico,
in November 1992 the International
Nutrition Symposium took place
in Mexico City and Guadalajara.
The Symposium gathered outstanding
specialists and dealt with actual
topics in clinic nutrition. It
was made possible thanks to the
collaboration of Nestle's Advisory
Board on Adult Nutrition (ABAN)
in Switzerland, which persuaded
prominent leaders of Nestle (from
that country as well as from Mexico)
to support this cause.
The
Advisory Board on Adult Nutrition
was made up of European, American,
and Japanese scientists who cultivate
diverse aspects of nutrition science,
and who took part in many programs
to promote the inclusion of this
discipline in their own countries.
The initiative of one of its members,
Mr. José Represas, prompted
the members of the ABAN to visit
Mexico and take part in the symposium.
The
event promoted the actualisation
of teachers in the field of clinic
nutrition; an exchange of ideas
took place, the problems posed
by the instruction on the subject
were discussed, as well as the
different strategies to overcome
them, and negotiations to summon
international support in order
to accomplish the program goals
were promoted.
Book
The
book Nutrición Clínica
1994: Memorias de un Simposio
Internacional, which contains
the papers and discussions of
the symposium.
